Lieutenant Thomas Miles

Thomas Miles, son of John and Ann Miles, was born in Charles City County, Virginia on September 23, 1752 and died April 15, 1838 in Rutherford County, Tennessee.

Thomas Miles is buried in Miles Cemetery in Murfreesboro, TN

Thomas Miles was married to Nancy Ann Patterson, b. 1750, d. 1841. During the American Revolution he resided at Caswell County, North Carolina.  Child: Hartwell Miles

The Revolutionary War services of Thomas Miles were:

  • Enlisted 1776-1777 for three months as a Private under Capt. Green and Col. Wm. Moore
  • Served February 1781 for 2 months as Ensign under Daniel W. McFarland and Col. William Moore
  • Served in 1781 for six months as Private and Lieutenant under Capts. McFarland and Foley in North Carolina
  • Fought in battles including Gates Depot, Welzell’s Mills, and Lindley’s Mills
